Match-Day Survival Guide

BC Place World Cup: Road Closures & How You Actually Get In

Getting into BC Place on a World Cup match day is nothing like a normal Whitecaps or concert night. The whole south side is sealed off, the closest SkyTrain station is shut to spectators, and there is only one way in. Here is the map, the closures, the walking routes from your neighbourhood, and the best pubs to hit on the way.

Match days: June 13, 18, 21, 24, 26, July 2 & 7, 2026 · Last updated June 10, 2026

⚠️ The one thing to know

There is only ONE spectator entrance: the Pacific Boulevard side. There is no access from Beatty Street, Smithe Street or Expo Boulevard.

Stadium-Chinatown Station — normally the closest — is CLOSED for stadium access. You must use Main Street–Science World Station and walk the secured car-free “Last Mile” promenade to the gate, with security screening where Carrall Street meets Pacific Boulevard.

The match-day access map

The interactive map shows BC Place, the closed streets, both SkyTrain stations (which to use, which to avoid), the “Last Mile” walking route, and the closest pre-game pubs. Pan and zoom freely; a labelled static version sits below it in case the map does not load.

How to get in, step by step

  1. Take SkyTrain to Main Street–Science World Station. Not Stadium-Chinatown — it is closed for stadium access during matches. Allow extra time; trains and the station will be packed.
  2. Find the Last Mile entrance. The main entry to the car-free promenade is on Quebec Street, immediately west of the station. Walking from downtown? Use the secondary entry at Quebec Street & Pacific Boulevard, reached via Keefer Street.
  3. Walk the Last Mile. Follow the FIFA wayfinding along Quebec Street and Pacific Boulevard — a fully pedestrianised, decorated route.
  4. Clear security at Carrall Street & Pacific Boulevard. This is where the secure zone begins and bags are screened. Honour the clear-bag policy to move fast.
  5. Enter on the Pacific Boulevard side. The only spectator entrance. Aim to be here at least 60–90 minutes before kickoff for big matches.

Walking routes from your neighbourhood

Because the direct approaches (Beatty, Smithe, Expo) are sealed, everyone funnels to the Pacific Boulevard side. Here is the smart route from each starting point.

From Main St–Science World

5–10 min · the main route

Exit, turn toward Quebec Street and join the Last Mile promenade. The simplest, best-signed path — route everyone here if in doubt.

From Downtown / Yaletown

15–20 min on foot

Walk to Keefer Street and down to the Quebec Street & Pacific Boulevard entry to the Last Mile. From Yaletown-Roundhouse, the seawall stays open for local walking but you still enter via Pacific Blvd.

From Gastown

15–20 min on foot

Head south through Chinatown toward Carrall Street, then to the Keefer/Quebec entry. Do not aim for Stadium-Chinatown Station — it will not get you to the gate.

Driving? Don’t.

Park-and-ride instead

There is no public parking at the stadium and surrounding streets are closed or local-traffic-only. Park at a suburban SkyTrain station and ride in (see below).

Every road closure on match days

From the May 2026 City of Vancouver plan. No curbside parking is permitted on any of these streets on match days.

Fully closed (no vehicles)

  • Pacific Blvd — Cambie St to Smithe St
  • Pacific Blvd / Quebec St — Carrall St to Terminal Ave
  • Expo Blvd — Smithe St to Quebec St
  • Quebec St — Keefer St to Expo Blvd
  • Carrall St — south of Keefer St
  • Griffiths Way
  • Keefer St — Carrall St to Quebec St
  • Beatty St — Smithe St to Robson St
  • Robson St — Cambie St to Beatty St

Local traffic only (pass required)

  • Marinaside Crescent, Cooperage Way
  • Beatty St, Cambie St, Abbott St
  • Keefer Place, Taylor St, Carrall St, Milross Ave
  • Quebec St — Terminal Ave to E 2nd Ave
  • Residents/businesses need a City Local Traffic Access Pass for private parking access only.

Separately, Pacific Blvd between Smithe and Carrall is fully closed to everyone (even pedestrians) from May 23 to late July as part of the secured venue footprint.

Parking & park-and-ride

Skip downtown driving entirely. Park free or cheap at a suburban SkyTrain station and ride in: Production Way, Lougheed, Brentwood, Gilmore (Millennium/Expo), Bridgeport & Marine Drive (Canada Line), or King George / Scott Road (Expo, South of Fraser). All connect to Main Street–Science World. TransLink is adding extra SkyTrain, bus, SeaBus and West Coast Express service for match days.

The Granville Street party on the way

Granville Street between Davie and West Georgia is a car-free FIFA pedestrian zone from June 11 to July 19 — expanded patios, food vendors, live music and big-screen energy. It is a great pre-match staging ground downtown before you head to the Last Mile. Buses are rerouted to Seymour and Howe.

Best pre-game pubs on the way to the gate

These are the closest high-energy pubs to BC Place. From any of them, walk toward Carrall/Keefer and join the Last Mile at Quebec & Pacific — do not rely on Stadium-Chinatown Station. For the full city-wide list, see our bars & pubs guide.

Match-day timing

Three matches kick off at 8–9 p.m. (June 13, 26 & July 2), one at 6 p.m. (June 21), one mid-afternoon at 3 p.m. (Canada vs Qatar, June 18), one at noon (Canada vs Switzerland, June 24) and one at 1 p.m. (July 7). The two Team Canada games and any weekend match will draw the biggest crowds — add 30+ minutes to everything.
