A Seleção in Vancouver
Brazil are the most globally supported football nation on earth, and their fans travel. Wherever the Seleção play, yellow and green fills the streets. Vancouver will be no different — expect large Brazilian contingents flying up from San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Toronto, plus Vancouver's own Brazilian community turning out in force.
Brazilian fans are known for samba drums, elaborate choreography in the stands, and the kind of joy that makes neutral fans start cheering for them. If you're not Brazilian, go watch them warm up — the atmosphere around a Brazil match is unlike anything else at a World Cup.
Where Brazilian Fans Gather
Yaletown is the natural base for Brazilian fans — its waterfront patios, upscale bars, and 10-minute walk to BC Place make it ideal for pre and post-match. Granville Street is the other hub, with larger venues that can accommodate the crowd sizes Brazil matches draw.
Search for the Brasileiros em Vancouver community on Facebook and Instagram — Brazilian expat groups are well-organised and will post watch party and meetup locations ahead of each match.
Brazilian Food in Vancouver
- Boteco (Kitsilano) — A beloved Brazilian bar and kitchen. Caipirinhas, pão de queijo, and feijoada. The closest thing to São Paulo you'll find in BC.
- Bossa Nova (Davie St) — Brazilian-inspired cocktails and small plates in a lively atmosphere.
- Churrasco options — Several Brazilian churrascaria-style spots in the suburbs. Worth the trip for a pre-match feast.
Getting to BC Place
From Yaletown, BC Place is a 10-minute walk along Pacific Boulevard — the easiest route to the stadium from any neighbourhood. On match days, Stadium–Chinatown SkyTrain station is closed. If arriving by SkyTrain, use Main Street–Science World station and walk 15 minutes to the stadium.
What to Expect
Vancouver crowds will be electrified by a Brazil match. The city is multicultural enough that you'll find pockets of supporters from every nation — but a Brazil game draws neutrals too. Expect the stadium atmosphere to be exceptional, the post-match streets to be loud and joyful (or quietly heartbroken), and the bars around Yaletown to be buzzing until 2am regardless of the result.
Tip: Buy your Brazil kit before you arrive. Demand for authentic Seleção jerseys spikes massively during the tournament and local shops sell out fast.
